Meet Devon, APCC

Providing EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) throughout California

Devon

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Devon. I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor trained in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My background as a yoga instructor also helps me integrate nervous system awareness and mindfulness into treatment.  I am deeply empathetic and passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges with compassion and clarity.

My path to this work began early in life, shaped by my own experiences navigating family trauma. Therapy helped me process my parents’ divorce and other formative challenges, and those experiences ultimately inspired me to become a therapist. I have always felt drawn to healing work and supporting others through meaningful change.

Who I help?

I work with individuals who are ready to move away from old patterns, heal from trauma, deepen their mind–body–spirit connection, and build healthier relationships. I see my role as a guide—you bring the map of where you want to go, and I help you stay on the path by supporting you in accessing the tools, strengths, and inner wisdom you already have.

I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore emotions, fears, and hopes at your own pace, with curiosity and care.

Why I Help

I have personally experienced the transformative power of therapy and have spent years engaged in my own healing work. This process has become one of my greatest strengths in supporting others. While I am very much human and living life alongside my clients, I have learned how to allow life to flow rather than constantly pushing against it.

I believe balance is central to well-being. When we lean too far in any one direction, life can begin to feel unsteady. I often think of emotions like a teeter-totter—when we find the fulcrum, the middle point, we create stability. My hope is to help clients find that balance and a deeper sense of freedom, grounded in the knowing that I will be okay.

Why EMDR

I am not someone who can promote a therapy I do not genuinely believe in, so it was important for me to experience EMDR myself. I was initially skeptical during my training, unsure whether it would truly work for me. Through the process, however, I accessed profound insights that were already within me—I simply needed support in resourcing them.

Whether through EMDR or talk therapy, I look forward to supporting you on your path toward deep and lasting healing.

How I Help

My approach is holistic, honoring the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, as well as the inherent wisdom within each person. While I integrate several therapeutic techniques, I am especially drawn to EMDR, IFS, and inner-child work because of how deeply these approaches have supported my own healing and because they treat the whole person rather than isolated symptoms.

What Clients Appreciate

Clients often describe me as approachable, easy to talk to, and supportive. I strive to meet clients where they are, offering a nonjudgmental, warm, and grounded space. My style is compassionate and validating, with a gentle, loving directness when needed.

I approach this work with the belief that each client is already whole and worthy of a peaceful, fulfilling life—sometimes life simply knocks us off balance, and therapy helps restore it.

Off the Clock

I love nature in all forms, but I have always been especially drawn to the water. When I am not working, you can often find me on, in, or under the ocean through outrigger canoe racing, surfing, snorkeling, or scuba diving.

Being new to the area, I enjoy exploring everything Santa Barbara has to offer with my partner and our dogs. My yoga practice continues to be a meaningful part of my life and helps me decompress.
