Meet Janell Blake, APCC
Providing EMDR and talk therapy virtually for adults throughout California
Hi, I’m Janell. I’m an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor trained in EMDR, motivational interviewing, ACT, and CBT. I also hold a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. I love using a holistic lens to treat my clients and believe deeply in the mind-body connection. I am a Native New Yorker but am grateful to reside in the beautiful state of California.
I am passionate about helping clients learn how to connect with themselves and others in order for them to become more authentic and have more meaningful interpersonal relationships. My goal is to work collaboratively with clients to help empower them to not just heal but to thrive in life.
Who I Help
In today’s society people are struggling to really understand who they are and what is truly important on their journey through this life. My clients tend to be in a place of exploration; they are trying to figure out who they are and how they relate to the world around them. I love to support people who are trying to break old patterns that are no longer working and are holding them back from being the person they want to become. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, or difficulties with relationships, my goal is to help clients have a fresh perspective and break out of unhelpful patterns.
One of my values is empowering clients to take hold of their personal autonomy with warm encouragement while developing strategies that feel honest and truthful to the core of their being.
Why I Help
One of my greatest joys in life is helping people become more authentic individuals. I help because I can see the pain and suffering in society that occurs when people try to live up to the values and standards of others.
It seems that the whole world is on a search to figure how they identify themselves and the people they most relate to. I am passionate about multicultural identity integration; I personally believe that honoring and unifying the differences that make this world beautiful and strong will not only help heal us as individuals but also as a community.
How I Help
With the skill set that I’ve developed I support my clients in exploring their core values and their personal motivations for accomplishing their chosen goals. Being trained as an EMDR therapist also helps me consider how the mind and body are responding to certain environments and support in developing greater levels of resilience. I help my clients identify and change limiting beliefs that keep them trapped in unhelpful cycles.
Clients Appreciate
Clients appreciate my combination of warmth, honesty, and directness.
I maintain a deep level of care for each person I have the privilege of working with. My clients feel understood and supported in making the changes they want in their lives.
Off The Clock
In my down time I love to attend cycling classes, go to the movie theater, and learn about medicinal plants. I am enthusiastic about sustainable ways of living and holistic healing. I also am intentional about staying connected to friends and family and try to stay open to new experiences as they present themselves.
