Meet Terri Eddy, LCSW

Providing EMDR and talk therapy for adults, families, and kids in Santa Barbara

Hi, I’m Terri. I’m a licensed therapist with more than 20 years of experience helping people heal from trauma, navigate difficult life experiences, and build more connected and fulfilling lives. I am trained in EMDR, DBT and brainspotting, and specialize in trauma healing. My approach is warm, intuitive, and engaged. Drawing inspiration from my own rich experiences, I find joy in helping others navigate the complexities of life.

Who I help

I offer individual and family therapy, drawing upon my wealth of experience and personal connection to the intricate dynamics of family life. My approach is tailored to support individuals in healing from past trauma, fostering meaningful connections, and guiding families toward a more harmonious existence. Trauma in life can change the way we see ourselves and the world. I enjoy helping bring peace and serenity back to those who want it.

Why I help

Helping others has been a thread throughout my life and career.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a respiratory therapist, emergency room nurse, and psychiatric nurse. Those experiences shaped my understanding of how deeply our physical and emotional well-being are connected and ultimately led me to become a therapist in 2004.

My own life experiences have also deepened my appreciation for the importance of having support through grief, loss, and unexpected change. I believe we can heal from painful experiences and create lives that feel fuller, more connected, and more joyful.

How I help

In my practice, I employ a warm, intuitive approach, specializing in trauma healing that recognizes the interconnectedness of mind and body. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is central to my work, laying the groundwork for growth and transformation. I first experienced the impact of EMDR personally after the loss of my husband to pancreatic cancer. That experience strengthened my commitment to helping others use EMDR to process trauma, grief, and painful life experiences. My expertise includes EMDR, DBT, Brainspotting, and inner child work, allowing me to tailor my methods to the unique needs of each individual and family.

Off The Clock

When not working, I'm hanging out with my three dogs, doing CrossFit, playing pickle ball, caring for my 100 year old home, and enjoying the company of my friends or my three grown sons and their families. If I am really lucky, I get to spend time with one of my four grandchildren.

Reach out for support

In my therapeutic approach, I strive to infuse warmth, deep caring, and genuine connection into every session. Grounded in effective evidence-based modalities, my commitment is not just to techniques but to fostering an environment where you feel truly understood and supported. I am dedicated to guiding you with authentic warmth, standing by you through life's challenges, and empowering your personal growth. Together, let's create a therapeutic space that helps you to heal from past painful experiences and paves the way for a more enriching journey ahead.
