Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Birth Trauma Therapy
The journey to parenthood is typically not easy. In addition to this being one of the biggest life altering transitions you’ll ever experience, there are plenty of common hardships that you may be enduring.
For some, becoming pregnant is not as easy as they always feared it would be when they were trying NOT to get pregnant and the stress of trying and potential infertility can rock their relationship and can cause a tidal wive of stress, as well as a sense of inadequacy. For others, being pregnant is not bringing the rosy glowing image they always held in their head. They may be experiencing intense body changes and physical discomfort, fears about finances, being a good parent, and maintaining their careers.
Some of you reading this may already be parents of little ones and may be struggling with postpartum depression, lack of community, anxiety, and relationship strain. It may be hard to recognize your old self or your relationship. There is SO much pressure on parents, and especially moms, to get it exactly right and to be perfect. Critics can be found no matter what choices you make and this can lead to more anxiety, and a sense of inadequacy (again). So many women struggle with breastfeeding for instance and may feel like their bodies are failing and they aren’t doing enough for their babies.
At any of these stages, you may feel an expectation to be totally joyous and happy and this can lead to shame and more isolation, if that really isn’t how you are feeling or isn’t ALL that you are feeling but you don’t feel like you can voice that.
Some of you reading this may have experienced a traumatic birth or loss that you are struggling with and that has deeply impacted your sense of safety or happiness in the world.
Regardless of where you are on this journey to bringing a new child into the world, you deserve support and care. You don’t need to try and wait for it to get better on your own. This is the moment to be your own loving parent and take care of yourself or your relationship.
At Rise Healing Center, we can help new moms, parents, and couples who are struggling with infertility, during prenatal/pregnancy, during postpartum, and with any potential birth trauma or loss. Helping yourself or your relationship can only bring good things for your family. You deserve to be taken care of and supported too.
